What cabinet refinishing includes

Kitchen grease is the number one reason cabinet paint fails, so every job starts with a proper degrease — not just a wipe-down with soap and water. Doors, drawer fronts and hardware come off and get labelled so each piece goes back to the exact opening it came from.

From there every surface is sanded to give the primer something to grip, and we match the bonding primer to what the cabinets are actually made of — solid wood, MDF, thermofoil and melamine all need a different approach. Doors and drawer fronts are sprayed in a controlled area for a flat, brush-free finish; boxes and frames are sprayed in place with the kitchen fully contained.

The last step is the one that gets rushed most often: cure time. A finish that’s dry to the touch isn’t necessarily hard enough to reinstall — rehanging too early is what causes doors to stick or print. We build the full cure window into the schedule before anything goes back on.

Our cabinet refinishing process

Four stages, from the first quote to the finished kitchen.

Quote & Colours

We check what your cabinets are made of, count doors and drawers, and give you a fixed written quote along with real colour and sheen samples.

Removal & prep

Doors, drawer fronts and hardware come off and get labelled, then every surface is degreased and sanded for proper adhesion.

Prime & spray

Bonding primer goes on first, then sprayed topcoats — doors in a controlled area, boxes and frames sprayed in place with the kitchen contained.

Cure & reinstall

Pieces cure fully before refit, then doors are rehung, aligned and hardware refitted so every drawer and door closes true.

Why GTA homeowners choose us for cabinet refinishing

Cabinets get touched, wiped and knocked every day — the steps below are what make a sprayed finish actually hold up to that.

Sprayed finish, no brush marks

Every door and drawer front sprayed for a smooth, factory-style result.

Degreased before priming

Cooking grease removed properly so paint actually bonds, not just sits on top.

Bonding primer for every material

Thermofoil, melamine and MDF each get the primer they actually need to hold.

Full cure before reinstall

No sticking doors or printed finishes from rushing the paint back onto the hinges.

Fixed price, written upfront

Door count and material condition are priced before we start — not adjusted midway.

Condo & apartment friendly

Contained, low-odour setups and quiet crews that respect building rules.

Brightlook exceeded our expectations when they did our kitchen roof painting. They were professional, did an excellent prep work on paint quality to use and covered necessary areas to protect items. The final work was highly impressive and extra paint was returned to us. We would not hesitate to use Brightlook again and also recommend them for any paint job.

Questions we get

Cabinet material makes a bigger difference than most people expect — call and we’ll ask a few questions before quoting.

The cost depends on the size of your kitchen, cabinet layout, structure, condition, and the level of refinishing required. We assess your cabinets in person and provide a clear written quote based on your specific project.

Plan for five to seven days for a typical kitchen. Doors and drawer fronts need full cure time before refit — shortening that window is what causes finishes to stick or print later, so we build it into the schedule.
Yes, with the correct bonding primer — thermofoil and laminate have no porosity for standard primer to grip. If a door is peeling or delaminated, we'll flag it at the estimate since that needs repair first.
Yes, when it's done properly. The combination of a proper degrease, the right bonding primer, and a sprayed cabinet-grade topcoat is what lets a finish handle grease, splashes and daily door use for years.
Partially. Your sink, fridge and counters usually stay accessible, since doors and drawer fronts are worked on off to the side while boxes are painted in place. We'll tell you exactly which days the cabinets themselves are out of service.
Doors and drawer fronts are usually sprayed in a controlled area for the best finish, while cabinet boxes mounted to your walls are sprayed in place with the kitchen properly contained and ventilated.
Yes — the process is the same as kitchen cabinets, just on a smaller scale, and it's a common add-on to a kitchen refinishing project.
